I have some lariope and other border grasses with dense roots. I also have some ferns that spread through tuberous roots. These plants spread into areas of my beds where I do not want them. This is the perfect tool for digging these out. With its sharpness, long handle, and T handle it is easy to thrust it in to divide these roots. With its small size I can dig anywhere in the bed. With the flat side I can dig these roots right up next to the plants I want to keep. It works well to divide perennials like day lilies. I also have some sapling weeds which this helps to dig out. I have some briar weeds with THIN stems and nodular roots which this digs out well. It precisely digs out clumps of grassy weeds in my lawn and works well to dig out sprinkler heads and lines for repair. It really is a versatile tool and I REALLY wish I had known about it years ago!!!
