I needed to plant some 15 gallon size bushes in my hard, rocky, root filled soil so I purchased this spade. I am THANKFUL I did! This spade has some heft to it and combined with the sharp blade it really digs in hard soil. It will cut right through 3/8" roots like you don't know they are there. I had not worked with a "T" handle before but it works perfect for this tool. You can tell this was designed by someone that actually gardens. For me, it was worth the price just for how much work it saved on this one project, but now I use this for so many digging chores. Even if I have a 1 gallon plant to plant, I will grab this spade because it makes digging easier. Where I often grabbed a sharpshooter shovel to dig somewhere, now I grab this. It is a MEAN digging machine!!! This is NOT your grandmother's spade!!!!
